Why I Created This Archive

For many years, the official Barbie Collector website was one of my favorite places to browse collectible Barbie dolls. Dolls were organized by collection and year, with photographs, product information, descriptions, and other details that made it easy to discover dolls and explore the history of Barbie collecting.

As the official website changed over time, much of that older organization and information became difficult to find. Fortunately, I had saved hundreds of images and screenshots from different versions of the site for my own personal collecting and wish lists.

This archive grew from those saved files. My goal is to preserve and organize as much of that information as I can and make it enjoyable to browse again.

What You'll Find Here

The archive focuses primarily on collectible Barbie dolls from the era represented in my saved files. Dolls can be explored by collection or by year, and individual doll pages include information such as release year, designer, product code, original price, collection, and description whenever that information is available.

The collection categories began with the organization used on the Barbie Collector website represented in my screenshots. Because Mattel's categories and collection names changed over time, I sometimes use a later or clearer collection name when it provides a better fit. The archive will continue to evolve as additional information is researched and verified.

An Archive in Progress

This is not a complete catalog of every Barbie doll ever produced, nor is it intended to be. Some original files have been lost or corrupted over the years, and some collections in the archive are more complete than others. Newly discovered information may also change where a doll is categorized.

Rather than waiting until every possible gap is filled, I decided to preserve and share what I have. Additional dolls, collections, corrections, and historical information can be added over time.

For Collectors

Individual doll pages include Own, Wishlist, and Favorite buttons. These selections are saved locally in your web browser, allowing you to use the archive as a simple personal collection and wish-list tracker without creating an account.

Because the information is stored only in your browser, your selections are not sent to or stored by this website and may not follow you to another browser or device.

About the Curator

I'm Mel D., a longtime Barbie fan, collector, researcher, and lover of archives. I began saving Barbie Collector webpages and images simply because I enjoyed browsing them and wanted a record of dolls I owned or hoped to own. Years later, those files became the foundation for this archive.

I own only a small portion of the dolls represented here. For me, much of the fun has always been in discovering, organizing, researching, and appreciating the incredible variety of collectible Barbie dolls created over the years.

Independent Collector Archive

The Barbie Collector Archive is an independent, fan-created research and reference project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Mattel.

Historical information has been compiled from saved official Barbie and Mattel webpages, archived websites, collector publications, reference materials, and additional research. Visit the Sources & Research page for more information.
